We are currently seeking to hire a Marketing and Communication Specialist. In this role, under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications, you will primarily serve as a leader in strategic marketing and communications planning as a liaison between the school’s communications team and individual departments. You will meet regularly with assigned departments to discuss current marketing and communications needs, creative strategy, marketing goals, deadlines, budgets, deliverables, etc. to help drive the communications team’s work and meet departmental objectives.
The ideal candidate is a creative marketing strategist with a passion for promoting engineering excellence. Skilled in leveraging websites, social media, press releases, and events, you drive brand visibility, attract prospective students, and highlight faculty research and student achievements. With strong project management and collaboration skills, you lead impactful campaigns and ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms. The hiring range for this role is $85-90K.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee strategic long-range plans/programs to meet organizational objectives for a school or department
- Define and/or leverage the communication and brand strategy for the organization incorporating appropriate channels
- Set and monitor budgets for broad based projects impacting many areas
- Select and oversee the department vendor relationships
- Write, design, and coordinate the production of marketing and communication materials
- Lead market research and analysis efforts
- Guide organization to use the results in strategic marketing direction, program segmentation and audience targeting
- Participate in university-wide and / or organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams to establish the organization as a strategic partner and thought leader
- Provide guidance to others
- Perform all other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (in lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted)
- 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations (in lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted)
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Organizational and creativity skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to prioritize, take initiative, and own projects
- Ability to take direction and work to meet expected deadlines and schedules
- Familiarity with content management systems
- Demonstrated experience in communicating complex scientific concepts to a general audience is preferred
- Proven track record developing creative and successful marketing strategies and campaigns is preferred
- Passion for continued industry knowledge and trends is preferred
- Ability to track success through measured outcomes is preferred
